According to a Vox article published on May 7th, 2020, “Stuck in 2020, pretending it’s 2014,” young people had been revisiting the early 2010s Tumblr aesthetic during stay-at-home orders as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. During times of distress, people tend to fall back on nostalgia and that’s exactly what Tumblr sparks for many millennials and members of Gen Z. It’s Me Nostalgia explores this nostalgic yearning by sharing moments from the early 2000s, the most nostalgic period of time for many late ‘90s and early 2000s kids.
Past the Hashtag is a mental health platform on Instagram, which I created in February of 2019 when I saw the need for mental health conversations to move from online to IRL. Past the Hashtag encourages individuals to seek in-person help and answers related to their mental health through education, resources, and community.
